America’s Best Dance Crew

Only two crews remained after surviving weeks of eliminations. It was up to the voters to choose which crew would be America’s Best Dance Crew. Voting was open all week and MTV received a record breaking 50 million votes between I aM mE and ICONic Boyz.

The opening number was to Pink’s “Raise Your Glass”.

This episode not only featured the unveiling of this years winner, but all 5 previous winners as well. Before each video, members of I aM mE and ICONic Boyz spoke about how the crews had inspired them and their favorite moments.

First up was season 5 winners, Poreotix.

Next was season 4 winners, We are Heros.

As you probably know the Jabbawockeez are the hip hop crew that won the first season of America’s Best Dance Crew.  They currently have their own show in Las Vegas and they were also recently featured on The Bachelorette.  The bachelorette, Ashley Hebert (dance teacher at University of Pennsylvania and a fan of dance), decided to have a group date competition where two teams of her suitors (all non-dancers) had to create a routine to impress her and the Jabbawockeez.  The winning team not only won a date with Ashley but they also performed with the Jabbawockeez in their show that night!  *Disclaimer: The bachelors are featured quite a…

The final battle before the finale featured I aM mE and ICONICboyz. The judges chose a performance they enjoyed from each crew and asked them to perform it again while adding to the routine.

First was I aM mE. The judges chose their Rihanna performance to “S&M”. JC said they did a wonderful job of expanding the concept of the dance. Lil Mama thought they took a provactive song and made it relatable to all ages. She called them the superhuman group. D-Trix said he can watch them over and over again. He thought they did a great job and got better every week.

This week’s episode featured music by Kanye West with the 3 remaining crews performing challenges given to them season 5 winners Poreotics. All three crews had the same challenges,  to include 3 different styles- The Dougie, The Boogaloo and Isos.

All 3 crews performed an opening dance to “All Of The Lights”.

The crew that made it through to the season finale and number one in votes was ICONic boyz. Putting Phunk Phenomenon and I aM mE in the bottom two.

Now I’m not starting drama or anything, but this happened on Twitter not too long ago and thought the rest of people who aren’t on Twitter should know what’s up. I’m not instigating or fueling the fire in this debate, but I think Neil Haskell has valid points and Dominic Sandoval has valid points. I’m simply making putting the debate out there for OMG Dance readers to decide!

D-Trix tweeted that the D-Day Twins (Deon and Damon) who auditioned in Atlanta, GA stole the choreography from the Les Twins.

This week’s episode featured music by Nicki Minaj with the 4 remaining crews performing challenges given to them by Nicki herself.

All 4 crews performed an opening dance to “Massive Attack”.

The first crew revealed to be safe was I aM mE putting Street Kingdom in the bottom.

The challenge given to I aM mE this week was to recreate a childhood games. JC called them a group of professionals taking on their tasks on in an intelligent way. The first crew revealed to be safe was ICONIC Boyz putting Instant Noodles in the bottom.

The ICONic Boyz were given the challenge of incorporating basketball moves into their routine. JC thought their routine had a lot of easy moves to it. Lil Mama said that they are growing and are clean but want them to step it up a little more. D-Trix thought this week they brought it and brought a story to the challenge.

This week’s episode featured music by Rihanna and her choreographer Tinisha Scott gave each of the crews their challenges which included using dance hall moves.

The first crew safe in this week’s episode was Instant Noodles.

The challenge for Instant Noodles was “the head top”. Lil Mama thought they could have brought a little more dance hall style but still like how they took on their challenge. D-Trix thought it was their best performance yet. He liked how they did their challenge in a b-boy way. JC thought they had clever transitions when they went from the dance hall style into b-boy and back. But he wants them to clean up…
