The Dance Scene

Here’s the third episode of Laurieann Gibson‘s The Dance Scene entitled “We Can Rule The World With Our Feet.” In this episode, Laurieann makes her directorial debut with Keri Hilson’s music video for her song The Way You Love Me. The video receives mixed reviews, particularly bad ones from black publications, which of course, causes a bunch of Miss BoomKack drama. As for the other dancers, Kherington Payne (SYTYCD4, FAME) once again struggles with her “soul” while Sarah Mitchell choreographes for the New York Knicks.

In my opinion, the show is kind of like MTV’s short-lived Dancelife, only much better. I must give props to Ryan Seacrest, as he really knows how to produce reality television, also producing hits Keeping Up with the Kardashians and its spin offs. The Dance Scene has its humorous moments, for example, sending SYTYCD alumni Kherington Payne out weave shopping, but more importantly there aren’t any stupid solos busted out of nowhere, at least not yet. (Remember those awful random over-produced solos from Dancelife?)

I kind of wish however that the show wasn’t entirely…

Here’s an interview with Laurieann Gibson, creative director and choreographer (SYTYCD, Making the Band, Skating with the Stars, etc.), regarding her new show, “The Dance Scene,” premiering this Sunday at 10:30 p.m. on E!. The show features SYTYCD4′s Kherington Payne and SYTYCD green mile contestant Paula Van Oppen.
